1) What is the difference between hardware and software?
Hardware is generally anything that is funnily enough ''hard" such as your monitor, your printer, you keyboard and your hard drive (PC). Software is the actual programs that run on the computer, such as Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer and even the games you might play.
2) How do I turn off the PC when it won't shut down or is locked up?
Making sure you've given your system ample time to shut down on it's own accord (at least 5 minutes) then you can override the shutdown process by holding down the on/off switch for 5 seconds.
3) What does download mean?
This is anything that you retrieve via the internet, and that means anything (and everything) from the sites that you visit, (yes looking at the page is a form of download) to reading your email (yes more download) and of course music, video's and pictures.
4) What type of computer should I buy?
Here's the easy answer, find out what you want to do on your new computer and then find the computer that matches you. Want to just send and receive email, a little bit of internet access and that's it, well then you can get an entry level PC. If you require something with a little more grunt for playing on line games then you will need to upgrade both the system and the price tag! Rule of thumb... make sure the person who is attending you, asks you "what do you want your new PC for?" if they don't, then walk away and find someone who does ask that... then you'll be on the right track!
5) Can more than one computer talk to my printer?
Great question and generally (there are some exceptions) the answer is yes! Can I do it? You bet! We can "network" pc to pc, pc to printer and even have
